Tink's Bolognese Sauce

Updated: Jul 27, 2020

I learned this simple and delicious Bolognese Sauce from my good friend Tink in Munich. As a kid, I loved bolognese from this great restaurant in Munich, I hadn't had Bolognese in the US until I was taught how simple the recipe is!

Ingredients:

-2 tablespoon Olive Oil

-1 Yellow Onion, diced

-3 large Carrots, diced

-3 Celery Sticks, diced

-1 pound Ground Beef

-6 oz Tomato Paste

-Salt and Pepper to taste

-Fresh Cut Parsley

- Crushed Red Peppers or chili oil(optional)

Instructions:

1. Diced the onion, carrots, and celery. I like to put them in the food processor and make them somewhat small. Tink says that it can be quite nice though to have them in bigger pieces. I think it's a personal preference.

2. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add onions, carrots, and celery and cook until the onions sweat.

3. Add ground beef, salt, and pepper and cook through, breaking up the ground beef as you go.

4. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, parsley, and red pepper flakes and turn the burner to a simmer. Simmer until all the flavors are absorbed, about 15 minutes.

5. Combine with your choice of pasta. I like this with Spaghetti or Tagliatelle.
