Updated: Apr 17, 2020

Käse Spätzle is the German equivalent of Mac and Cheese. This simple and traditional recipe is a quick way to get a little German taste on the table!

Ingredients:

-Spätzle (Find the recipe here)

-1/2 stick butter

-1/2 onion, diced

-10 oz mild, easy to melt cheese, shredded (Muenster, Havarti, Swiss, Gruyere, Emmental, etc.)

-1/4 cup heavy cream

-Salt and pepper to taste

-Parsley, chopped

Instructions:

1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium high heat. Add onions and cook until translucent, 5-6 minutes.

2. Add spätzle to the skillet and toss with the butter and onions until the spätzle is coated.

3. turn the heat down to medium low and slowly sprinkle cheese into the skillet and sprinkle in cream. Stir together, allowing the cheese to melt slowly. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Serve warm and topped with parsley.
