French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup is the best. Did you know it's super easy to make and you can make A LOT of it!

Ingredients:

-1 cup unsalted butter

-6 large onions, sliced

-6 garlic cloves, minced

-2 tbsp dried thyme

-Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

-2 cup red wine

-4 tablespoons flour

- 12 cups beef broth

-1 baguette, sliced

-Grated Gruyere Cheese or sliced Muenster Cheese

Instructions:

1. In a large stock pot, melt the stick of butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, thyme, and salt and pepper and cook until the onions are very soft and translucent, about 20 minutes.

2. Add the wine, reduce heat, and simmer until the wine has evaporated and the onions are almost dry, about 15 minutes.

3. Slowly sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir. Turn the heat down to medium low and cook for about 10 minutes, allowed the flours to combine.

4. Pour in the beef broth, bring the soup back to a simmer, and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper.

5. When you're ready to eat, turn your broiler on to high heat.

6. Ladle soup into a broiler safe bowl, place two toasted baguette slices on top of the soup and sprinkle or lay the cheese on top of the bread. Put the bowls in the over until the cheese melts. Watch carefully to not over melt the cheese.
